Our household was alive with the sound of viruses over the seasonal break: grunting, coughing, hawking, hurrumphing, sighing, spluttering, mewling, puking… The medicine cabinet was refilled every 48 hours. Then there was the daughter who spent six days in hospital after an elbow piercing turned septic, but that’s a story in itself.
What is it about Christmas and the New Year that along with seasonal goodwill comes seasonal illness?! The bright lights at the end of a very long tunnel have been the short stories and poems which, during lighter moments, have been earmarked for a new term of Tricycle Readers.
The group restarts next Monday, January 12 at a new time: 6.30-8.00pm. We will lose some of our regulars, which is heartbreaking when a group has worked as tightly and well together as our merry band, but it is easier for those who find committing chunks of time during working hours difficult.
Here is our new flyer. If you’d like to know more, please come along next Monday evening, or email for details. Sessions are free, and you can buy coffees and water in the cafe downstairs. I’ll bring biscuits and occasional treats are always welcome!
